Abstract:   (28 Views)
In the present study, water quality and growth performance of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) fry were investigated in single and multi-species conditions in two water exchange and biofloc systems. Different concentrations of biofloc (clear, dilute, and concentrated) in three different species combinations were studied for 56 days. Finally, water quality factors and growth performance of common carp and grass carp were compared in different systems. The results showed that on days 21, 42, and 56 from the start of the experiment, the amount of total ammonia in the treatments with dilute and concentrated biofloc increased compared to clear water, and in these treatments, despite the absence of water changes, ammonia did not increase over time. Two-way analysis of variance showed that only two factors, rearing system and rearing system + species, were effective on water nitrite levels. In all 4 water sampling times and in all tested treatments, the amount of nitrate in the water in the treatment with dilute and concentrated bioflocs did not change significantly compared to the treatment with clear water. On the final day of the experiment, the highest average weight was observed in common carp fry compared to grass carp and polychaete. In this regard, significant differences were evident in percentage weight gain, daily weight gain, specific growth rate, and weight change coefficient between different treatments. In general, the presence and increase in biofloc concentration in water did not significantly increase growth performance in all three species combinations compared to clear water.
